It has been a strange week, with a funeral which was joyous, then a neighbours burglary, decorating the lounge ( still ongoing) and the Armistice Remembrances. Who steals money from a frail old lady in broad daylight on a Saturday morning in her own home? Someone who has been watching and knows she is vulnerable. Depressing all round. So I just keep on going with my leaves.
At least the birds are back at the bird cafe. This coal tit a frequent visitor with a mate. Oh yes and we locked ourselves out of the house yesterday morning trying to be so careful about security. We moved here 40 years ago and no one locked their doors. I think I am maudlin this week. Luckily I am reading nonsense poems with my new pupils- time to set to sea in a sieve I think.
I love every bramble post ... and thinking what a great word "bramble" is
ReplyDeleteThank you and bramble so close to ramble, which they do, spreading over the hedges- so right!
Deletelove your brambling!
ReplyDeleteAnd rambling!
ReplyDeleteoh yes, "times are a changing" ... (sadly so sometimes !)
ReplyDeletewould love to see some tits with your brambles ;-)
Well sparrows perhaps in another piece. I see them in the hedge opposite our kitchen window.
DeleteYes, we live in a sad, sad world nowadays. Where did we go wrong when old, frail people are fair game to criminals. I know what I would do.
ReplyDeleteYes, it makes you lose your faith in human beings. However the village has rallied around splendidly, giving support, flowers, kind words and extra security! That is the beauty of living in a small rural community.
DeleteHow awful and depressing your story of the vulnerable neighbour is! Living as we do beyond the edge of the main village, we lock carefully - but not always. Perhaps this should serve a warning.
ReplyDeleteYes a good warning. Take a good look at the caller on your doorstep before you open your door. Get a chain fitted. Don't have much cash in the house. Well we all know those things, horrible isn't it?
