St Ives

I have been on holiday in St Ives for a glorious week- totally in love with the place. These vessels are by Jack Doherty- a multi-site exhibition called Waypoint. The vessels are in 2 tiny chapels one on the island, St Nicholas' chapel, one in St Leonards Chapel on Smeatons pier- in the picture above and one on the Wharf- a fishermens lodge. The tiny chapels for fishermens prayers before they went to sea." Pray some fishes and a safe dry bed."

Feathers from Newark Park

 Fridays feathers
Sundays collection.
For a long time I have been meaning to walk down the carriage drive at Newark Park and do one of the longer walks on their map. On Sunday we did the red walk. Down the drive and back up a glorious valley with sheep, pheasants and cattle in the fields. Quite steep in places. We ended up back by the lake. I wanted to look out for birds of prey and we were lucky to see buzzards, a kite and a smaller bird of prey-possibly kestrel. The feathers are mostly peacock. We saw a peahen with a chick on the wall of the walled garden. I am thinking of researching falconry which would fit in with the hunting lodge theme.

Visit to Newark Park

A glorious day out yesterday at Newark Park N.T. Ozleworth to look for inspiration for the next BB exhibition in June. I was looking for birds real and in pictures or sculpture etc.

Exhibition over- a few days rest.

The exhibition is over and I need a little rest and reflection. I actually enjoy thinking about what to do next. There is always no lack of inspiration. It is good to take time though to think, take stock. We have a holiday soon to relax and help this process. It has been so busy and the shock of having Linda's picture stolen from our car  (see Brunel Broderers blog) - well we are still reeling from that. I have a few teaching days left to go then quiet and family holiday time.
