Here are my little beasties as published in Stitch magazine - August / Sept. Issue 96. These three are worked on felt , a little machine embroidery to give a texture to the felt, then all hand embroidery.
This one is on cotton and worked in an embroidery frame, all hand embroidery. Full instructions in the magazine. You will be able to see them at Nature in Art, Twigworth, Glos Aug 11th-31st. Look in the table glass cases.

From paper to fabric sculpture.
Attempting to take some of the paper ideas and work in fabric. I stiffened the fabric by bonding silk to a fine canvas. I punched into the fabric, scratched and stitched it on the machine without a thread.. You have to adjust thoughts back to fabric because it is just not the same medium. In the end I went for don't think just do. Surface marks work best. This is only a small piece- would be good to make some more.

Textures on paper
This is my sampler of textures on paper made with all different kinds of tools- pins, knitting needle, scalpel, stiletto etc. There are things you can do on paper that you can't do on fabric but I am thinking how to use these ideas with stitch and fabric.

Paper Sculpture with Fiona Hesketh
On Friday I had a fantastic day playing with paper. I went on a paper sculpture workshop with Fiona Hesketh organised by the Glos Guild at The Wilson, Cheltenham. (They have a craft workshop each month).
We had to solve the problem of making fastenings with paper, create textures on the paper, work quickly without over thinking it.
My samplers of textures- of course I cannot help but relate to stitch and textiles. Lots of questions arise when making, lots of what ifs.............More to come!
