More inside out envelopes.

Two more inside out envelopes- sketches begun at Slimbridge on Sunday, drawing from the South Lake Hide. I used the scope in the hide to draw the gulls. Tricky to use at first, just need more practice. I need my glasses to see what I am drawing but not with binoculars or the scope, so I drew without them. I finished them at home with my photos for reference and my glasses on! I really like the brown paper envelopes with the white on the gulls.

Cold but bright at Slimbridge yesterday, plenty of wild avocets on the Severn banks and tack piece. These taken from the comfort of the South lake hide, moorhen and mallard amongst the wild flowers.

3 avocets

Back to work- this piece finished now- the exhibition date doesn't seem so far off when you add in time for framing and photography etc. Nothing like a deadline and publicity people asking for images to concentrate the mind!

Exhibitions.

I have had some days off and been gadding about in the sunshine- seen 3 exhibitions this week- all excellent and inspiring. The Gordano artists are at Nature in Art, Twigworth near Gloucester. E.A.S.T. ( East Anglia Stitchers) are at the Corinium Museum, Cirencester and a great paper exhibition at Brewery Arts- also in Cirencester.

wigeon- inside out envelope

Wigeon are grazing ducks so found in fields in groups, beautiful chestnut coloured heads with a flash of ginger/ochre on the forehead.
